The Foundation course is where it all begins and is the foundation course for all the others. It gives you the teachersÕ role in structuring cooperative learning, the rationale and research which supports it; the ways to strengthen cooperative learning with difficult groups and students; the teaching of cooperative skills, monitoring for appropriate behaviors and processing the effectiveness of the group.
The Leadership Course is the training for how to teach the Foundation Course to teachers and others effectively. The Foundation Course and the Advanced and/or Conflict Courses are required to take this course.
The Advanced Course extends the Foundation Course by teaching the skills associated with small group leadership, trust building, and communication; introduces informal cooperative learning and base groups; and details how to set up appropriate competitive and individualistic work. The Foundation Course is required for this course.
The Conflict Resolution Course deals with two kinds of conflict: conflicts of interest where negotiation is required to resolve the conflict; and controversy where intellectual conflict is encouraged. The skills needed to make both of these conflict situations successful and introduced and the conflict theory is integrated into the training.
